Overseas voter turnout, mababa pa rin

Umaasa ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) na makaabot man lang sa 30 porsiyento ang turnout sa overseas absentee voting para sa midterm election sa Mayo 13.

Simula nang magbukas ang overseas voting noong Sabado, mabagal ang naging turnout mga botante ayon na rin kay Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez.

Gayunman, umaasa pa rin aniya ang ahensiya na makarating ito ng 30 porsiyento.

“Midterm elections ito so medyo tini-temper natin yung expectations natin. Pangkaraniwan kapag midterm elections, lalo’t overseas voting, mababa ang turnout. Pero sana umabot tayo nang at least 30 percent katulad ng nakita natin back in 2016,” pahayag ni Jimenez nang kapanayamin ng dzMM.

Base sa datos ng Comelec, nakatuntong ng 31 porsiyento ang voter turnout para sa presidential elections noong 2016.

Idinagdag pa ni Elaiza Sabile-David, Director in charge for the overseas voting, na sadyang mababa ang unang turnout sa panahon midterm elections.

“Mas interested bumoto ang tao kapag presidential [ang eleksyon],” ani David.
