Piliin ang kandidatong magpoprotekta sa karapatang pantao

Hinikayat ng human rights watchdog ang publiko na iboto ang mga kandidatong nakahandang ipaglaban para maprotektahan at makamit ang tunay na kaparatang pantao.

Sa pahayag ng Amnesty International Philippines, kailangan ng bansa ng higit na mabait na politika makalipas ang tatlong taong pamumuno ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kasabay ng paglulunsad ng kanilang proyektong “Sagot Mo Ba Ako?” para sa nalalapit na halalan sa Mayo

“It is imperative that we bring back the balance and work to end the politics of demonization, which has done nothing but divide us further as a nation,” sabi ng grupo.

Nakatutok ang atensiyon ng rights watchdog sa mga isyu kagaya ng kahirapan, pisikal na seguridad at pagkakapantay-pantay ng mga kasarian.

Iba’t ibang rights groups ang nagpahayag din ng kanilang saloobin na pinakamalala ang administrasyong Duterte sa paglabag ng karapatang pantao simula pa noong panahon ni dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos.

“It begins with all of us. If we don’t reinvent our mindset in choosing our leaders, we will continue to suffer the consequences. Our vote determines not just the nation’s future but our own. We need to ask the right questions now during the campaign period, or we will end up with the same broken promises,” wika ng Amnesty International.

Nakiusap din ang grupo na manatiling alerto at listo habang papalapit ang eleksiyon upang matiyak ng publiko na tutuparin ng mga halal na opisyales ng bansa ang kanilang mga sinumpaang tungkulin.

“Elected public servants are accountable to the electorate—they answer to and for the Filipino people. The government’s obligation to uphold our rights under the constitution and international laws is realized through the work that legislators do,” wika ng rights group.
