Pinakamalaking railway project, sisimulan na sa Pebrero

Nagpirmahang muli ng panibagong multibillion loan agreement ang Pilipinas at Japan para sa pinakamalaking railway project sa ilalim ng Build, Build, Build program ng administrasyong Duterte.

Nilagdaan nitong Lunes ang P80.47-billion loan agreement nina Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III at Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) Director General Shigenori Ogawa upang masimulan na ang konstruksiyon ng 109-km North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) extension project.

Unang bahagi ang pautang na ito ng P488-billion official development assistance (ODA) para sa kabuuang P777-billion NSCR system.

Nakatakdang magsimula ang proyekto ngayong Pebrero at kaagapay na popondohan ng Jica at Asian Development Bank.

Sinabi ni Transport Undersecretary for Rails TJ Batan na isa sa tatlong Japan-funded infrastructure railway projects ang NSCR kasama ang Metro Manila Subway at ang P18-billion Metro Rail Transit 3 rehabilitation project na nakatakda ring simulan sa susunod na buwan.

“With this third Jica loan agreement, we can say that our Japan-funded railway projects under ‘Build, Build, Build’ are now fully funded,” wika ni Batan.

Pahahabain ng two-part extension, Clark at Calamba, ang NSCR Phase 1 (Tutuban patungong Malolos) ng 53 at 56 kilometro, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

Nauna namang inaprubahan ang proyekto ng National Economic and Development Authority noong Nobyembre 15 ng nakaraang taon.
